The mission for PAW Climate is to draw more private-sector ML professionals into climate. There is a wealth of expertise, passion, and money pouring into climate tech as both startups and established industrial players seek to address one of the most important challenges facing humanity. Machine learning can be an important component in tech for addressing the climate crisis. Too many basic questions about climate work have gone unanswered for too long. Nobody knows how many people want to work on climate, how many people know that it’s possible, and what’s stopping those that do. You’d think someone would have figured these out by now? Nope, it’s on us!

We are using this research to better serve our members and to advocate for change with organizations reaching the workforce en masse—such as mainstream job platforms, educational, industry, and government bodies.

As Work On Climate has grown to 20,000+ members, we are looking to develop programs that can better service our community. Creating systems at scale for developing mentorship relationships can positively impact knowledge transfer, which ultimately leads to progress.
That’s where the Mentorship Team comes in.
WoCl is committed to helping members on their path to finding climate work through fostering connections. This team runs the Expert Office Hours and Peer to Peer Mentorship initiatives. The goal of these programs is simply to get people who want to work in climate in the same room with people who do – to share knowledge, to foster interpersonal connections, and to demystify the idea of working in climate and the people in it.
The expert office hours program has an important goal which is to deliver office hours sessions that serve underserved mentees and topics. We are looking for a new Team Lead to steer these efforts.
